The Gonzaga College High School community is mourning the sudden passing of longtime athletic director, Joe Reyda.
According to the school, Reyda died Tuesday morning from an apparent heart attack at his home.
“Joe was a beloved and instrumental member of our school community. As our longtime Athletic Director, he shaped the Gonzaga experience of thousands of young men," Gonzaga school president Rev. Joseph Lingan said in an email. "He was a humble leader, a gentle soul, and a devoted husband, father, and friend."
Reyda was a leader and frankly a role model for students and colleagues. He loved Gonzaga. He was so proud to be an alumnus and an employee at the school.
No information on Reyda’s funeral was immediately announced. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Reyda was gone at just 55 years old.
