Lindsey Mastis is an Emmy Award-winning news anchor. She follows breaking news from the Alert Desk in the morning on 7 News and hosts The Coronavirus Alert Desk, a program that connects viewers with facts and experts. It has reached more than 10 million viewers since the start of the pandemic.
Lindsey has had a front-row seat to numerous history-making moments. She was in the U.S. House gallery when members first voted to impeach President Donald Trump. She also witnessed rare protests inside the Senate gallery during the vote to confirm a controversial Supreme Court justice. She also covered the inaugurations of President Joe Biden, President Donald Trump and President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C., and covered President Obama’s re-election in 2012 from the swing state of Ohio.
She traveled nationally to cover the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, and the mass shooting near the University of California Santa Barbara. She covered the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bomber and was in Watertown when authorities announced they had arrested Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. She also covered the deadly West, Texas, fertilizer plant explosion, and the mass shooting at a movie theater from Aurora, Colorado.
Internationally, Lindsey traveled throughout India with the International Reporting Project to create a documentary on child mortality, reported on medical tourism in Mexico, and taught TV journalism and social media to journalists in the Kurdish region of Iraq.
Locally, Lindsey is involved in the community through her volunteer work with several organizations, including Autism Speaks National Capital Area, the Charles County Law Enforcement Torch Run to support the Special Olympics, and various school and career organizations.
Previously, she reported for the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., Feature Story News service from the Los Angeles bureau, was the breaking-news anchor at the NBC affiliate in Tampa, Florida, and was a morning show anchor at the ABC affiliate in Southern Illinois. She also previously hosted the nationally-syndicated Terrorism Alert Desk.
Lindsey is active within the Greek American community in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She also plays piano, collects vinyl records, and is learning Spanish.
