Megan Clarke joins WJLA and the 7News team as a reporter and fill-in anchor from California, where she worked at the NBC, CBS affiliate in Fresno for almost 10 years.
Megan concluded her time in Fresno as the morning anchor for CBS47--- a role she held for three and a half years. In that role, Megan solo-anchored the station’s two-hour morning show and produced and anchored a daily noon broadcast.
Megan’s journey in news has two significant chapters—she not only grew up in Fresno as a proud third-generation Californian–but she started as a station intern while studying Mass Communication and Journalism at Fresno State.
Over the next decade, Megan would hold the titles of “weekend anchor,” “weekday reporter,” “weekend producer,” “multimedia journalist,” “freelance field producer” and sometimes even fill-in forecasting the weather.
Megan also had no idea one of her earliest and dearest assignments would foreshadow a glimpse into where she would one day live and work–Washington, D.C.
In one of her favorite assignments, Megan was assigned to cover a three-day Honor Flight. She flew across the United States with dozens of veterans and their guardians on a trip to D.C., following the more than 60-person group as they toured the monuments built in their honor.
During her time in the Golden State, Megan also covered the state’s historic drought and devastating wildfires, including the notable Ferguson Fire, which shut down Yosemite National Park and tragically claimed the lives of two firefighters.
Megan also covered presidential visits and campaigns, like former President Barack Obama’s 2016 Father’s Day visit to Yosemite.
Megan interviewed United States Senator Bernie Sanders during his 2016 presidential campaign and interviewed Governor Gavin Newsom regarding California High-Speed Rail promises and funding frustrations.
Megan brought viewers live nonstop coverage, providing insight as Jeff Bezos blasted into space with three other civilians on his groundbreaking Blue Origin flight in 2021.
Behind the scenes, Megan is a proud community advocate, especially for efforts funding youth enrichment and success. She has helped host the 2019 Miss California competition and hosted fundraisers for the Boys & Girls Club of America, Fresno Chaffee Zoo and Mothers Against Drunk Driving—in all, playing a tiny part in helping raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the community’s kids.
A proud daughter of two retired educators, Megan carries a lifelong love of learning into her profession. She enjoys long phone calls with family back in California, spending time with her wonderful new friends across the DMV, attending her new church, fitness, adventures, travel, museums, good food and live music.
Megan is currently finishing her master’s degree in International Relations and Communication from Liberty University.
