Mitch Blacher

Mitch Blacher is a national award-winning investigative reporter. He joined the 7News I-team in November 2021. He is a fierce advocate for the communities he covers and the people who trust him to tell their stories.

Mitch has reported across North America and from Europe. His work has led to criminal indictments, lifesaving regulatory change and new laws.

Mitch was first to reveal missing train safety systems on Amtrak’s Northeast corridor following a deadly derailment in Philadelphia. In California, he unearthed a 10-term congressman’s ongoing sexual harassment history. From the U.S. Southern border, Mitch exposed human rights violations and misconduct by U.S. Border Patrol Agents. The work led to action by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Mitch sits on the Society of Professional Journalist’s Professional Standards & Ethics Committee. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Indiana University and his Executive MBA from Villanova University.
