MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is in Myrtle Beach Saturday, one of many campaign trail stops ahead of the 2024 Democratic voting primaries.
Harris is scheduled to speak around 1:30 p.m. at the annual women's retreat of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the oldest historically Black denomination in the U.S.
This visit marks her seventh trip to South Carolina, where Black voters play a critical role in Democratic politics.

Harris has been touring the country to tout the Biden-Harris administration's accomplishments, most recently, angling to energize younger voters during a multi-stop college tour. Before arriving in Myrtle Beach, the VP made a stop in Las Vegas, Nevada, another critical primary polling location.
However, the Palmetto State is home of the Democratic leadoff primary, which is happening this year on February 3. Nevada will follow just a few days later on February 6.
While she's in the region, it's anticipated that Harris will court voters she, and President Joe Biden, hope to win over ahead of the 2024 election.
Next month, Harris has plans to embark on a nationwide series of events to rally voters to give Biden a second term and regain full control of Congress.
