VDOT spokesperson says crews remain on standby during winter weather

ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) —
The Virginia Department of Transportation said it's remaining vigilant and prepared during the first winter storm of the year.

WJLA 24/7 News spoke with VDOT spokesperson and former 7News team member Alex Liggitt at noon to discuss the department's plan several hours into the weather alert.

Liggitt said VDOT still stressed that drivers remain off the road on Saturday, adding that they've not seen many traffic issues.
He also said that many of the teams are still ready to respond to any potential snow build-up over the next few hours.
