FOUND: DC resident reunited with 6-month-old dog stolen from her front porch

ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — 7News has learned that a D.C. woman and her dog were reunited just days after the dog was taken from her by a suspect who she said threatened her life in the process.

On Sunday, our team shared the story of Teffiney Worthy and her six-month-old French bulldog named Hendrix. She told us that her dog was taken from her while she was trying to open the front door of her Northeast D.C. home.

Worthy said the suspect took her dog and threatened her life if she kept resisting, and the traumatizing event was captured on security video.

Now her family, as well as D.C. Police have confirmed that they were reunited on Tuesday. MPD Commander Jeffrey Kopp said members of the department's violent crime unit helped Worthy recover Hendrix.

Kopp said Worthy told police that she was in contact with someone who had her dog. According to Kopp, someone had reached out to Worthy based on a social media post she shared and she immediately contacted detectives. Kopp said authorities were involved throughout the recovery process and Worthy was reunited with Hendrix at the police station.

"We intend to find every person who is involved in this crime and bring them to justice," Kopp said.

It's a more positive ending for Worthy, who told 7News that she lost her first puppy in August's flash-flooding incident at the doggy care facility District Dogs in the northeast area.

Police said this is still an active investigation and they are working to find the person responsible.
